Traveling with CBD can be a confusing process, however, the TSA has published a policy statement that provides some guidance on how to travel with CBD and other marijuana-related products.

Taking directly from the TSA's website:

"Marijuana and certain cannabis-infused products, including some Cannabidiol (CBD) oil, remain illegal under federal law except for products that contain no more than 0.3 percent THC on a dry weight basis or that are approved by FDA. (See the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, Pub. L. 115-334.) TSA officers are required to report any suspected violations of law to local, state, or federal authorities.

TSA’s screening procedures are focused on security and are designed to detect potential threats to aviation and passengers. Accordingly, TSA security officers do not search for marijuana or other illegal drugs, but if any illegal substance is discovered during security screening, TSA will refer the matter to a law enforcement officer."

One of the benefits of CBD is that it helps people to feel more relaxed and able to handle difficult situations without being overwhelmed with anxiety.

Nowadays, people are traveling more often than ever before. In fact, there's been a 300% rise in air travel since 1980. In order to combat this increase, many airlines have started implementing new regulations that may cause you to miss your flight if you don't comply with their requests. With CBD, however, you can feel calmer and more relaxed during your travels.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has a CBD policy in place, It's critical to plan ahead and be aware of the TSA's rules when transporting CBD. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has a guideline on CBD.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) warns that "CBD or other cannabinoids found in cannabis products are not permitted to be carried through airport security checkpoints if THC levels exceed .03%." If you're carrying CBD goods that violate liquid-based restrictions or higher levels of THC, you'll need to remove them from your carry-on and checked luggage before going through security.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has banned all forms of CBD, including oils, edibles, and concentrates as noted above. It's worth noting that the TSA doesn't test or screen for CBD or other cannabinoids.

Why is the TSA CBD Policy in Place?

The TSA's prohibition on CBD is motivated by two concerns. To begin, the TSA isn't qualified to test or screen for CBD or other cannabinoids. Second, because any amount of THC above .01% is defined as a Schedule I narcotic under federal law, transporting it across state lines is prohibited.

What are the Consequences of Violating the TSA CBD Policy?

If you're discovered to be in violation of the TSA's CBD restriction, you may face a range of consequences. A warning, being denied boarding, or being arrested are all possibilities. It's important to keep in mind that the TSA does not have the power to detain passengers; nevertheless, if they believe a crime has been committed, they may contact local law enforcement.

How to Travel with CBD Products

If you're bringing CBD goods with you on a trip, there are some things you can do to make the process go more smoothly. First and foremost, declare them to the TSA agent at the checkpoint informing them that your CBD products contain less than the .03% THC and meet the liquid carry-on rules. Second, consider purchasing CBD products when you arrive at your destination since CBD is legal to purchase in all 50 states.

Another option is, you may send it to yourself via mail. If this appears like a viable alternative for you, verify with your state and local regulations before making a decision.

CBD is a highly contentious issue right now, and as CBD becomes more popular, we will undoubtedly see more adjustments.
